More third-round excitement. Well, maybe not. I'm not seeing too much that makes me salivate on the roster today. Then again, it's Melbourne so what am I thinking?

Roger Federer and Nikolay Davydenko won't lose more than 10 games apiece, Serena Williams is bound to crush the beautiful backhand from Spain who ended her sister's run here last year, Vera Zvonareva and Gisela Dulko may never finish and Nicolas Almagro and Alejandro Falla could turn the court from Plexicushion to crushed brick before all is said and done.

There will be more war. Lleyton Hewitt and Marcos Baghdatis will reprise their late-night crusade from 2008. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga should subdue Tommy Haas, but it might not be as comfortable as I'd like. Venus Williams will have her hands full with the crowd-inspired Casey Dellacqua. Shahar Pe'er should win the war of attrition with Caroline Wozniacki. Tathiana Garbin could frustrate the hell out of the short-fused Victoria Azarenka. Flip a coin for Agnieszka Radwanska or Francesca Schiavone. Who knows what to make of Mikhail Youzhny and Lukasz Kubot or Daniela Hantuchova and Li Na. And I expect Stefan Koubek to challenge Fernando Verdasco in the all-lefty battle.

I'm gonna try to remain awake through sunrise, but it could really get bad round midnight.
